Dietitian Services Qld and COVID-19

Good morning everyone,

I hope you are keeping safe and well, practising excellent hand washing techniques and keeping safe personal distances when out and about.

COVID-19 is causing a lot of anxiety in the community and I would strongly recommend reading the Commonwealth Health Department Updates at   https://www.health.gov.au/  and the Qld Health Updates at https://www.qld.gov.au/health/conditions/health-alerts/coronavirus-covid-19  to get a balanced view.

The final link I’ve attached is a 30 minute online training course that anyone can do  to learn more about how to practice good hygiene (two great clips on hand washing and hand sanitising) https://www.health.gov.au/resources/apps-and-tools/covid-19-infection-control-training

At present, the clinics are open and I’m still seeing clients.  Each clinic is practising infection control including frequent cleaning of hard surfaces, safe distancing measures, provision of hand sanitisers to clean your hands.  If you do have a fever, dry cough, sore throat, fatigue or shortness of breath, I would ask you not to come in for your appointment.  Instead contact your GP on the phone to decide best action, go to one of the Qld Health Fever clinics or call the National Coronavirus Helpline 1800 020 080 if you think you are at high risk due to recent travel overseas.

For clients that are self isolating, or at high risk (due to age or other chronic health conditions), I am able to do telephone consults or videoconferencing (Skype, Zoom, FaceTime) if you would like to have a consultation.  Medicare and Department of Veterans’ Affairs clients are not able to use telehealth options for Dietitians.  I am able to do home visits for Veterans’, to be careful of your health, I am consulting with clients outdoors (eg patio) with correct social distancing.  If you would like to make a consultation for any telehealth or home visits please call me on 0409 628 551.

Regards,  Cathie Lowe.
